Tanzanite is a trichroic stone, meaning that it gives of different shades depending on the angle on which the stone is viewed.

Tanzanite is the perfect gemstone to give for those with the December birthstone, or those celebrating a 24th anniversary. Diamond is the birthstone for April, and is the traditional gemstone to give on a 10th and 60th anniversary.

Tanzanite was used by the Tanzanian Masai tribes during childbirth, believing the stone would bless the new born with a long life.
